Bring the past into the present
Using notes from the late 1800s, Ayres Associates survey crews
are determining the boundaries of Camp Guernsey, a military
establishment near Guernsey, Wyoming. The Camp is in the
east-central portion of the state, bordered by the historic Oregon
and Mormon Trails. More than 1,000 cultural resource sites
have been documented within the Camp boundaries, including
Native American Indian sites, evidence of early miners’ work,
and inscriptions left by pioneers. Our next issue of TRENDS
will highlight the surveyors’ work of tracing history one marker
at a time.
