Taylor Strickland has a big rip in
here favorite pair of softball pants.
“It’s a battle scar,” says the sassy
11th grade pitcher from Lincoln Park
Academy.
And these Lady Greyhounds have
battled all season long to an unprecedented 18-2 record and 3rd
straight District Championship
under the watchful eye of Coach
Rodger Matthews.
For Strickland, who commands the field with the authority of a General, it’s been a battle for the past 6years. A battle that she enjoys and a battle in which
she has had remarkable success.
Not only has she been a starter for LPA since 8th grade,
she has also been a First Team All-Area since the 8th
grade, was named the Player of The Year from the
Coach’s Association and has been playing on an 18 and
under Gold Travel Ball Team since age 14.
With no Senior Class on this year’s team Coach
Matthews has come to rely on General Strickland to
be a leader.
And lead she has.
Besides her solid A average at the Treasure Coast
Area’s most challenging high school, the General has
helped guide her army of warriors to a State Ranking
of 5th in Class 4A and an overall State Ranking of 37th.
Her stats on her battle field speak for themselves.
