Extending Jewelry Life

To give your jewelry the longest life possible have it checked and cleaned by a professional for loose prongs, worn mountings, and general condition at least once per year. Prongs should be re-tipped, platinum jewelry should be re-polished and white gold re-plated to maintain their original condition. This should be done as needed but generally needs to be done every 24 months or so. Pearls should be restrung as necessary. There should be a knot between each pearl to prevent loss if the string should break. Some gemstones should not be exposed to sudden temperature changes so make sure to do your research on your particular stone.

Make sure when shopping for jewelry to take into consideration your lifestyle and schedule of activities. This will help you to determine which piece of jewelry is best for you.
