Key Recommendations Issue 11: Application and relevance Workshops that are generic in nature are not appealing as the skills acquired have to be relevant to the individual’s’ fields of work. To address this, youth suggested workshops to be tailored to a specific target group to teach commonly used software/tool in their field of work. These workshops would also offer networking opportunities to facilitate self- learning and exchange of ideas and resources. Issue 12: Segmenting target audience Acquiring some skills require mentorship while other skills may not require such assistance. Therefore, youth suggested to segment target audience based on level of expertise and field of work/interest. With the segmentation of target audience, hackathons could be downscaled to suit their level of needs. Training sessions and mentorship could be arranged to provide guidance and impart knowledge. Issue 13: Engaging the older generation The older generation are reluctant to embrace technology. They are losing out on many convenient tools and services as a result. To bridge this gap and in the spirit of shared learning, workshops could be conducted for older affiliates from Indian organizations to help them establish a strong digital presence. Workshops conducted by youth could encourage youth to attend it with their older loved one to help them overcome their reluctance in using the tools/services. Maathi Yosi | 2019 7
