Whether improving existing infrastructure or building new projects, TRC understands the need to advance safety, connectivity, community livability and environmental stewardship. From design, construction, and inspection, to responding to emergencies and quickly repairing or replacing key assets, TRC delivers sustainable solutions that support our nation’s vital infrastructure networks. Idaho Avenue Pedestrian Overcrossing Bridge, Santa Monica, CA Oroville Dam, Oroville, CA TRC served as construction manager on the Idaho Avenue Pedestrian Overcrossing Bridge, which included construction of a 1.2-mile bike path and jogging trail. The work was part of a larger $20 million project in which TRC assisted the City of Santa Monica in rebuilding the California Incline Bridge, which connects Santa Monica to the Pacific Coast Highway. The original 750-foot bridge was constructed in the 1930s and needed to be brought up to current seismic standards. In February 2017 the primary and emergency spillways of the Oroville Dam in Northern California suffered significant damage due to record rainfalls, including 13 inches of rain in just 5 days. After thousands of downstream residents were evacuated, repairs began with work crews, including TRC, entering the scene. The bridge was named California’s Outstand- ing Bikeway and Trails Project for 2017 and has received numerous awards, including a 2018 Engineering Excellence Honor Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of California and the 2017 International Bridge Confer- ence Arthur G. Hayden Medal. 16 2018 Sustainability Report The first phase of the project focused on mak- ing temporary repairs to the main chute and the emergency spillway. Subsequent phases included demolishing the 3,055 foot long main spillway and erecting a much stronger replacement, as well as permanently repairing the emergency spillway. Work will continue into 2019 to finish regrading eroded hillsides, planting new vegetation, and com- pleting infrastructure improvements to the visitor center parking lot and boat launch facilities. TRC continues as an integral part of the project team through project completion.
