Fostering a Culture of Quality

At TRC, we believe that quality is not achieved by chance. It is carefully planned and integrated in our corporate strategic plan. A key tenet of our philosophy is that every person is responsible and accountable for the quality of their work. A multi-tiered quality organization reaches across and within each line of business and support function. An executive-level Quality Council governs our quality program and provides clear vision and objectives.
Corporate quality directors harmonize efforts across TRC and provide cross-organizational consistency. Operational Practices are represented by quality leaders who provide business-specific support and define operational quality goals. Additionally, a network of quality advocates reaches into all of our work areas to communicate and foster a culture of customer-focus and ongoing improvement.
In FY16 we refreshed our entire Quality Management System which includes our quality policy, Quality management guidelines, sector / practice quality management plans, project-specific quality assurance plans, quality auditing procedures, and quality organization structure and roles. In FY17 we are implementing improvement programs in response to quality metrics.
Quality at TRC is more than meeting or exceeding our customers’ expectations. It is also about creating meaningful value for them, becoming their strategic advisors, and forging an alliance as their trusted business partners.

Partnering with Our Suppliers

In our project delivery, we often retain and rely upon subcontractors for specialized support, and our subcontractor network constitutes our primary supplier network. While subcontractor relationships vary based on individual project needs( e. g., electrical engineering, construction services, environmental services), there were no significant changes in the location, structure or relationships within our supply chain during the reporting period.
Subcontractors can be important to product delivery, and their performance is a reflection on TRC in the eyes of our clients. It is essential that our subcontractors share TRC’ s vision when it comes to safety, quality, security, sustainability, and a commitment to the health and welfare of their employees. Our ability to win new work and retain existing work with many of our larger clients requires that we have a systematic approach to pre-qualifying subcontractors, especially those working in safety-sensitive environments such as refineries, substations, and industrial facilities.
Our quality management plans outline sector- and practice-specific procedures for screening subcontractors for their ability to perform the services required and any specific quality control and other requirements related to their services. We screen all subcontractors to ensure they have the necessary technical expertise required for the project and meet applicable safety, quality, and financial standards.
TRC is committed to diversity participation and ensuring that we continue to develop strong collaborative partnerships with the local MBE, WBE, DBE, VBE, HUB and SB communities on our project efforts.
As an example of our commitment, we have used our Supplier Diversity Program with Historically Underutilized Businesses( HUBs) on contracts in key project locations. By using team members that work and live in the area, we reinforce our commitment to the community, validate that we are truly invested in their prosperity, and respect their contribution to the specific project. Equally important is the connectivity and transfer of information that supports a common mentorship.
