MATERIALITY ASSESSMENT
The process for identifying topics to be included in this report was guided by
the requirements of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) sustainability reporting
framework. Our Sustainability Committee conducted a materiality assessment
by rating each of the GRI aspects using six evaluation criterion and then ranking
the aspects by average weighted materiality score.
• Financial Implications
• Legal / Regulatory / Policy Implications
• Established Industry Norms
• Relevance to Stakeholders
• Marketplace Relevance and Opportunity for Innovation
• Evidence of Emerging Interest (Forward-looking Adjustment)
Evaluation criteria for the materiality of the GRI aspects were aligned with the
Sustainability Accounting Standards Board’s (SASB) materiality assessment
criteria, and results of the materiality assessment align with our internal
Enterprise Risk Assessment outcomes. Our assessment process provides a
means to periodically evaluate our focus areas and allows us to concentrate on
those areas of greatest concern to our stakeholders and with greatest impact to
our business. Each material aspect applies to all of our business units to some
degree as well as to our external stakeholders.
The issues we deemed material reflect a balanced accountability for economic,
social and environmental concerns:
