EXCERPT FROM TRC’S
EHS POLICY
We are committed to the
following:
• Providing a workplace free
of recognized hazards and
maintaining healthy working
conditions.
• Complying with applicable EHS
regulatory requirements.
• Making environmental, health
and safety considerations a
priority in business planning
and decision-making.
• Identifying hazards in the
workplace, assessing the
risks related to them and
implementing precautions to
mitigate those risks.
• Managing our business to
effectively and efficiently utilize
natural resources.
• Developing the necessary
employee knowledge and skills
to work safely, protect the
environment and comply with
applicable regulations.
• Maintaining objectives and
targets in the pursuit of
continual improvement of our
EHS performance.
Since its founding in the 1960s, TRC has been committed to excellence in our
business activities as a means to create value for people, the environment,
and our neighboring communities. Although it was only just over a year ago
that we first documented our sustainability commitments, our company has
its roots in creatively solving the challenges of both today and tomorrow.
Maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and responsibly managing natural
resources are essential to quality of life and to TRC’s long-term business
success. This commitment is reflected in our corporate Environment, Health
and Safety Policy.
SUSTAINABILITY GOVERNANCE AT TRC
TRC’s sustainability program is overseen by a cross-functional Sustainability Committee, led by our Sustainability Director, under the direction of our
CEO. The committee includes senior members of our organization representing our Executive Team, our three business sectors, and the Human
Resources, Sales and Marketing, Finance, Facilities, and Risk Management
functions.
During fiscal year 2014 (FY14), which covered July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014,
the Sustainability Committee held four full-day meetings, as well as monthly committee calls, to lay out our strategic path forward. We report to our
Board of Directors on sustainability initiatives, targets and objectives.
Having senior management support and participation in our Sustainability
Committee was critical in launching our sustainability initiative this year,
but we know it will take participation of all our employees to advance our
program in a meaningful way and we look forward to that ongoing engagement in the years ahead.
• Promoting sustainable
operations and business
practices.
• Selecting business partners
who share our EHS values.
• Maintaining alignment
between stakeholders’
expectations and our EHS
performance through regular
communication.
