efficient office space will not only reduce costs but will also reduce our energy
footprint and contribute to productivity. As our office leases are up for renewal,
we are focusing on reducing our footprint by reducing our square footage per
person. By 2020 we are targeting an average of 180 square feet/per person, excluding warehouse space and offices added through acquisitions, using 2015 as a
baseline year.
Simultaneously, we are actively engaged in efforts to decrease our on-site and
off-site storage, through a special emphasis on electronic recordkeeping vs.
paper files.
After setting our baseline energy footprint, our next step is to focus on energy reduction measures. We have set a reduction target of 20% for energy consumption
by 2020, normalized to FTEs and square footage of our office space. Our initial
focus in FY15 will be on:
• Installing energy efficient measures where proven cost-effective (i.e. LED
lighting, issuing smart strips, and installing programmable thermostats)
• Identifying specific cost-effective energy efficient upgrades and savings
opportunities in offices with large energy consumption
• Improving employee energy behavior through information sharing and/or
energy challenges
FY15 Target: Reduce net office space (net defined to exclude warehouse space) to 180 SF
per person by 2020, excluding acquisitions.
