National Association of
Environmental Professionals
“This year, I served as Track Chair and a
presenter for a panel on climate change
implications for California water policy at
the National Association of Environmental
Professionals Annual Meeting. While
climate change is a global issue, its
impacts are local, regional, and in the
case of California, statewide. Conference
attendees all agreed that drought in the
southwest is a new norm and will require
cross-jurisdictional, collaborative action
to address. TRC can support our clients
in addressing water challenges through
projects that increase the capture of
storm water, clean groundwater basins
for potable water storage, and treat water
used in oil production.“

Perspectives on Natural Capital
“The business community is increasingly
aware of their interdependence with
the goods and services provided by
functioning ecosystems. Often taken for
granted, the tremendous value of natural
capital can no longer be overlooked nor
externalized from business fundamentals.
By understanding the intricate
relationships between capital and
natural capital, we can help our clients
mitigate risk and identify opportunities
for improved business performance and
ecological stewardship—a win-win.”
Professional associations and affiliations that exemplify TRC’s collaborative
approach to sustainability include:
Natural Capital Business Hub: TRC collaborated with Vermont Electric Power
Company (VELCO) and Green Mountain Power (GMP) to submit a project case
study that is featured on the Natural Capital Business Hub, a platform to advance the business case for better ecosystem management.
Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB): TRC actively participated in
the industry standards development work groups for the O&G and Transportation industries, bringing our perspectives on material issues to those industries
to the table. Moving forward, we will be participating in the Pulp and Paper and
Electric Utilities work groups as well.
American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Sustainability Commitment:
TRC is a signatory of the APTA Sustainability Commitment, which sets out common sustainability principles, an action plan, and a course for progress.
Sustainable Remediation Forum (SURF): TRC actively participates in the Sustainable Remediation Forum, which promotes the application of sustainability
concepts throughout the lifecycle of remediation projects, from site investigation to closure.
Electric Utility Industry Sustainability Supply Chain Alliance (EUISSCA): TRC
participates in the Electric Utility Industry Sustainability Supply Chain Alliance
(EUISSCA). We will actively communicate our progress against our sustainability targets with our utility clients and continue to augment our profile with hard
data results as we achieve the milestones in our program.
FY14 Target Achieved: Increase participation in key organizations working to address
sustainability challenges in line with our vertical focus areas.Target renewed for FY15.
