across a span of more than one thousand years . There ’ s simply too much to take in in such a short span of time , and yet , something struck my attention , and I have no idea why .
Castles started to become a little cliché , as did other fortifications along with graveyards , yet there was something else . Something much simpler yet greatly alluring . Stone circles that harked to a time forgotten creating a shroud of mystery , an illusion that as drawing .
A series of cairns scattered across the landscape , stone mounds , circles , and structures that are as mysterious as they look .
Our first discovery was just a short ride from Inverness . A series of three Bronze Age ‘ domes ’ or circles , all around five thousand years old . Mystery surrounds the exact use of these structures at Balnuaran of Clava . Many standing stones run the perimeter of an area that contains three large stone structures . Two of the stone structures have an entrance facing the south-west whilst the middle ring has no entrance . There ’ s an eery beauty to be had amongst the
