in ten hours , while forty years ago it would have taken twenty days , so much so that it is estimated that with the introduction of diamond wire machines in the last forty years the same amount of marble has been extracted as in the previous two thousand years . An incredible and worrying fact that is endangering the ecosystem of the mountains themselves , so much so that it makes one think that perhaps the time has come to stop so that we can , like the ancients , continue to be enchanted and amazed by this sea of stone , by the beauty of the “ Mountains of the Moon ”.
