There was no drunken aggression or misbehaviour , probably guided by the many police both Nepali and Tourism .
The musical celebration went on deep into the night , it was hard not to be drawn up into it all with another night of celebration after all we had nothing to celebrate on the final day of Tihar when the love and bond between brothers and sisters is reflected upon .
Our host had bid us goodbye explaining that the final day was her favourite as she could display love for her brother . In doing so she would apply a sort of tika to her brothers head , seven assorted colours , about his neck would be draped a garland of marigold and makhamali flowers . He would also be treated to dishes and sweets whilst encircled with a mustard oil to ward off Yama , that god of death . The brother is blessed with the prospect of a long life .
The sisters also have good fortune as the brothers place a tika on their heads while showering them with gifts and money . At the same time the brothers promise to protect their sisters until the end of her life .
