Riding from Kathmandu , the seat of Nepalese politics , cultural attractions , and historical events , you ’ d be forgiven for thinking , “ what have I got myself into ?” The city and surrounding regions of the Kathmandu Valley are a melting pot of traditions , communities , and religious activities . It ’ s led to a conglomerate of suburbs , streets and laneways that seem to make no sense as they draw the rider in to a world unfamiliar .
With a population well over four million , Kathmandu is one of the world ’ s most densely populated cities , little wonder as it is considered one of humanities oldest continually inhabited urban areas . The city centre is densely packed amongst ancient monuments and sacred sites , the outer sprawl seems less dense yet is no less chaotic in its design and populous . Riding to the outer reaches of Kathmandu is an adventure in itself .
Never let the traffic get you down , move with the flow , treat it like a river ; you never have full control but if the rider lets the current guide and you steer in a general direction you ’ ll get where you intend and discover a world that is much more than snow-capped peaks and desert like terrain , Nepal is a country that offers much more .
Head south then west , to a land of terraced hills , jungle dwelling communities , exotic beasts , and the birthplace of leaders . For this is the Nepal that few rarely
