Desperately trying to find accommodation before the sun slipped fully behind the mountains we searched Pithoragarh in vain , nowhere wanted the foreigner . I could see Vishu , my travelling companion , becoming increasingly frustrated . I had no option but to shrug it off and try to find a reason with little success .
Refuge presented further north toward the town of Kanalichhina . A roadhouse of sorts , a restaurant come store also had rooms available upstairs . With question we took the opportunity as well as some of the sweets on offer along with chai . It was all too easy to fall into the trap of ordering too much galum jalub , a sweet concoction of milk solids , sugar , rose water and cardamon powder soaked in sugar syrups , for a sweet tooth like mine it quickly became an addiction .
