the Shenandoah National Park in an infinite series of curves on a perfect surface .
Along its 168 kilometres we observed the incredible beauty of the granite formations and metamorphic rocks formed more than a billion years ago . We often gave in to the temptation to abandon the motorbike to follow some trekking routes that reached peaks and waterfalls . Even though the peaks were usually close
to one thousand metres , the scenery we had on the sides of the road , thanks to surprising panoramic points of view , was majestic . We spotted deer , wild turkeys , and brown bears ; the few remaining buildings enriched the visit by reliving what life could have been like in these parts at least two centuries ago . In fact , there were some still functioning water mills surrounded by old farms that have remained unchanged even if no longer inhabited . When we threw ourselves into our tent in the evening , we immersed ourselves in the tired but emotionally rich sounds of the forest .
Where Skyline Drive ended , the Blueridge Parkway began , seven hundred kilometres long , it crosses West Virginia and ends in North Carolina . We covered it all over several days , sleeping in spectacular campsites with few comforts but
