TRAVERSE 16
More formally known as the Kurow Hotel , the “ Top Pub ” is so named for its location within the town of Kurow , family owned , it ’ s an authentic step into regional New Zealander life . You ’ ll be welcomed by publican and patron alike , it ’ s like that in this part of the world .
Kurow forms a great base for a few days allowing rides into more remote reaches of the area , some that challenge and all that impress . The accommodation is typical of pub rooms , but is by no means lacking , it ’ s the just the basis for what can only be described as nine days of well-appointed lodgings that provide for all tastes and a place to retreat after a day of riding and exploration .
Most nights are spent within walking distance of pubs , restaurants , and town centres . Rumbling Adventures has planned this well to ensure that riders are able to experience a little of the South Island lifestyle whether it be within local farming communities or adventure tourist hotspots .
Volumes could be , and most probably have been , written about the riding in New Zealand . The South Island road infrastructure is as good as anywhere on the planet and includes almost 5,000 kilometres of gazetted roadways . Multilane highways give way to sealed country backroads , these in turn lead to well formed gravel and dirt lanes , which see a multitude of dirt tracks sprout in all directions .
