The adventure motorcycle segment is one that continues to grow year on year , representing the fastest growing segment in motorcycle tourism . Dual sport and adventure bikes account for twenty-seven percent of all street-legal motorcycles in the USA , and according to the Federal Chamber of Automobile Industries ( Australia ) it is a similar , if not greater percentage , within Australia , and it doesn ’ t stop there .
Adventure motorcyclists spend not just on bikes , a considerable amount is also spent of accessories , clothing , equipment and more . In the United States it is estimated that riders who undertake a BDR , or plan to , spend around US $ 3 million on motorcycle accessories , US $ 2 million on riding gear , even US $ 400,000 on training to prepare for a ride .
Riders have the opportunity to explore rural America on a BDR , taking in remote dirt roads and communities that many never take the chance to explore . Thousands of kilometres are mapped out considering the terrain and ensuring as less as possible impact to environment and land management resources whilst providing an adequate level of tourism capability in the desired regions . It ’ s about economic benefit and a respect for all .
