Education , advocacy , and the promotion of responsible motorcycle travel has seen Backcountry Discovery Routes ® ( BDR ®) strive to preserve riding opportunities that respect the land and bring economic benefits to regional or rural areas that encompass the routes . It ’ s an ongoing commitment that has been undertaken since 2010 working with land managers and agencies responsible for public lands to ensure remote roads are kept open to motorcycling .
Creating off road routes for motorcyclists has been a passion of the USA based BDR and now crosses twelve states plus four additional state loop routes that have all seen economic benefits , through tourism dollars , in less advantaged communities . Promotion of the BDR routes is undertaken through a travelling film tour , print and digital media , email , and social media campaigns .
BDR provides the community , motorcycling and non , with resources that are of great value , including high-quality waterproof maps , feature length documentary films , downloadable GPS tracks , plus freely available information from the BDR website . BDR is a voluntary group that work to promote the enjoyment of motorcycling and adventure travel for everyone .
Working with the University of Wyoming ’ s , Centre for Business and Economic Analysis ( CBEA ), BDR conducted a comprehensive economic impact study based
