CORINNA WILDERNESS
It ’ s marketed as an “ oasis in the wild ” and in many ways it is , but the Corinna Wilderness Village is so much more and a great place to start a Tasmania west coast adventure .
Corinna has a history steeped in history . The village itself , sits just sixty kilometres north of the town of Strahan and a similar distance west of the famed Cradle Mountain . Once a thriving gold mining township , Corinna soon became a ghost town as the gold ran dry and the area proclaimed a place of wilderness significance .
The natural history predates mankind with the temperate rainforest , the largest in Australia , having connections to when the Australian landmass was joined to the subcontinent , Gondwana .
