Not far away is the village of Ostuni , " the whitest of the white cities " of this marvelous and inexhaustible territory which is the Valle d ' Itria . We got there leaving the most direct roads to get lost in the country lanes dotted with trulli and farms , and there the wonderful spectacle of Ostuni rose up , completely tinged with white , silhouetted against the intense blue of the sea .
Without missing a visit to the nearby city of Carovigno , it ' s time to abandon yourself to the beauty of the Apulian sea which in this stretch of coast is capable of offering immaculate and wild glimpses of rare beauty , such as Torre Guaceto which rises between uncontaminated nature , a spectacular sea and dream beaches ; or as in Torre Pozzelle , where five sandy coves embrace the ancient Aragonese tower which overlooks an uncontaminated area of great beauty located on the coast that takes its name from the watchtower dating back to the sixteenth century . A little further on , going up the ancient Roman consular Traiana which connected Bari to Brindisi , the Regional Natural Park Dune Costiere from Torre Canne to Torre San Leonardo , a landscape to be discovered among beaches , dolmens , karst blades and populated stretches of water by herons and egrets . There are many erected towers that still populate the Apulian coast , testifying to a defensive system of the coast and the populations from the danger of Turkish pirate ships , real architectural poems on the sea that make it difficult , in front of so much beauty , to return , and capable even today of filling our winter dreams with memories and regrets .
