The inscription reads as a monument to the people , the land , the history of the Oodnadatta Track , that thin , worn , strip of dirt that makes its way north from the former railhead of Marree to the town that bares the tracks name , Oodnadatta , a remote outpost in the deserts of South Australia . There ' s plenty to witness along the Oodnadatta Track yet one thing , well two , stand out . Two up ended aircraft , Plane Henge , that forms a gateway for the adventurous and a welcome to Mutonia .
