Designer and producer of high-quality motorcycle travel equipment and luggage , Giant Loop LLC has been acquired by Swedish backpack company , USWE Sports AB .
Since 2008 , Giant Loop has been the passion of Harold Olaf Cecil , releasing a range of high-end products designed for the adventure and dual sport motorcycle market gaining a reputation worldwide as the kit to have . The buyout sees USWE gain a position in a market that will see them add Giant Loop ’ s panniers , tankbags , saddlebags , and more to their range as well as the recently released Armadillo Bag ( LLC ).
The merging of the three businesses will provide greater global reach across varying markets through USWE ’ s international markets while USWE itself gains a greater presence in the USA domestic market .
With the acquisition USWE will take on Giant Loop ’ s Bend , Oregon , headquarters where direct business operations take place , manufacturing is outsourced .
The buyout took place in late June with the operations changing hands on July 1 , 2022 . Cecil will remain in charge of Giant Loop for at least the next two years ensuring a smooth changeover and will gain a sizeable percentage shareholding in USWE .
” I am excited about the transaction with USWE Sports ,” said Cecil . “ For me , the acquisition represents the culmination of 15 years of my life ’ s work . The excellent fit of our markets , brands , and business cultures truly compliments both company ’ s strengths . We ’ ve used , sold , and promoted USWE products ourselves for many years at Giant Loop , and we look forward to collaborating with such an innovative , category leading brand and company .”
“ Giant Loop is a perfect partner for USWE in the USA ,” echoed Jacob Westerberg , CEO USWE Sports . “ We started our companies in the same time period , and our founders met early in each companies ’ history . We share similar company values , as well as product design and development vision .
“ Our two product lines also perfectly match each other , where USWE focuses on the rider and Giant Loop focuses on the bike gear . So far , Giant Loop has been developing soft luggage for off-road and adventure motorcycles . However , we see great potential in developing bags and luggage also for e-bikes , mountain bikes and gravel bikes .”
Westerberg continued that the lines between motorcycle and bicycle are increasingly blurred , and this is an opportunity to provide for both and bring the two together , “ together , we have already identified several synergies in sales , distribution , and manufacturing and we are looking forward to implementing and benefitting from them . I am convinced that this acquisition will massively strengthen both Giant Loop and USWE .”
