breathtaking and took Route 202 into Delaware National Park along the Ouabain Reservoir . Such beauty is beyond words , really .
From Salisbury I took Route 1A along the coast of Maine , leaving Portsmouth , New Hampshire , and Portland behind me . The beauty of this part of the USA is breathtaking .
Parking in Freeport , Maine , I lost Mera ' s keys , dropping them on the way to a shop . A drama !
Losing a BMW motorbike key is a real headache . Not only because you feel a " naked " when you do not have two keys available , but mostly because it ' s a hassle to go through the paperwork to request a replacement , not to mention the time it takes to replace them .
How could that have happened to ME ? Losing the key ?
The feelings washed away in the beautiful sunshine . Every person I came across I received a smile and a “ nice day for a ride , buddy , have a good one ”.
“ Long ride biker ?” asked the shops teller . “ BMW ?”
“ Yes . An 8,500 mile ride up the East Coast ,” I replied . “ How did you know I had a BMW ?”
“ It ' s just that that suit you ' re wearing is only worn by ‘ deep pocket ’ bikers ”, she replied , smiling as she took the phone in her hand and dialed an extension .
I looked at her intrigued . “ Deep pocket ?” I wondered . I heard her talking to a supervisor . She told him she had a biker in front of her who owns a BMW , then hung up and said to me : “ A little while ago a man came to give us some BMW motorbike keys , he found them in the parking lot . Did you lose them ?”
“ Welcome to Maine , we are very honest people here , you know ?” she added .
A few minutes later , a guy arrived with the keys , a tag attached to them with the day , the time , and the place where they were found , written on it .
