repairs on a number of the bikes . It was announced here at Tullah that riders had the option for an easier track to witness Tasmania ’ s biggest waterfalls , everyone chose the hardest way , the spirit of adventure wasn ’ t lost on any of the riders . It was a hill climb that hasn ’ t seen direct sunlight since the giant trees started maturing , the track torn and shredded by the numerous four-wheel drives that take to the challenge .
An adventure it was as numerous spills provided plenty of video evidence that could easily appear on a bloopers video , yet riders were treated to an easier ride as we arrived in Strahan , easing riders into what was to come with glimpses of the infamous Wild West Coast . Strahan gave everyone a chance to clean before a cold beer overlooking the magnificent Macquarie Harbour , a place to rival any waterway anywhere in the world .
We took to the following day with a thirty-kilometre ride heading north along Tasmania ’ s longest beach , for many this was the first taste of sand riding and a precursor to what was to come . Two days of sand riding .
A ‘ little ’ hard enduro track was a wonderful way to warm up as we headed to the top of the mountain to enjoy views of the coast , beach as far as the eye could see before we took to the infamous ‘ Climmies Track ’, twenty kilometres of boulders and rocks that saw one puncture and plenty of ‘ get offs ’. Everyone made it through to enjoy lunch at the hamlet of Granville Harbour .
The coastal track to Pieman Heads was a chance for everyone to stretch their legs and open the throttle through the fast-flowing beach and dune sections . The ‘ Wild ’ West Coast wasn ’ t displaying its best as weeks of gentle easterly winds had turned the ocean into a glass like lake .
