well as a Lake Lyndger . It all made for a picturesque scene yet as we were approaching the weekend the drone of ski-boat engines ruined any chance of a peaceful locale .
Left , right , left , right . We rode on and soon approached what looked to be great open farming roads near the Quambatook area . Hard packed gravel of the sort you expect in South Australia , fast and a joy to ride .
A gate , the road closed by a huge corporate entity . A minor inconvenience that saw us return to another ‘ main ’ road . A left turn and we found ourselves at the locale of Dumosa , a railroad crossing , a grain silo , and a public toilet block . A chance to sneak a peak at an online map , a chance to find a camp spot . “ I ’ m not sure there ’ s actually water in the lake ,” the reply to my suggestion of Green Lake . “ I think it ’ s just a depression in the land that occasionally fills with water .”
I shrugged and we rode on in the general direction of the lake . A sign pointed the way and to our surprise Green Lake was indeed a lake , although by any standard more just an oversized pond . A campground on the southern side spotted with occasional campers , caravan , and tents . Facilities old and new , all clean and well cared for .
