lookouts that take in the vast expanse of the Flinders Ranges . Somewhere amongst the days riding the teams will stop in at the Blinman Hotel for a refreshing beverage . Then back to the headquarters at the ‘ Village ’. Richard ' s group , generally for the more advanced riders , will take on harder terrain that challenges in ways similar to the enduro loops .
The Enduro riders are a hard lot , many veterans of the famous Finke Desert Race , or 24-hour endurance events , most just weekend trail hackers who know what it means to ride in these conditions . Veterans of the Classic , Jarrod Barnard , and Todd Jones are the leads splitting the riders into two teams based on experience and capabilities . They ’ re expected to ride loops of between 70 and 130 kilometres on extreme terrain and a pace that you ’ d consider to be race worthy .
The Hard Enduro riders are in a league of their own . The loops are no more than 30 kilometres yet can take riders eight hours to complete . Amazingly , they are the riders that have the least problems , perhaps born of the fact that they are led by one of Australia ’ s best Trials riders and veteran of hard enduros , including Romaniacs , Erzberg Rodeo , and Wildwood Rock , Adrian Harry .
Amongst the four days of riding are numerous social events , including Saturday evenings Spirit Of The Classic Awards . Everyone involved in the event gather , including
