The lack of direction didn ’ t diminish yet it was clear that some form of organisation was needed so after ten years , with Trevor becoming tired of being the sole driving force the reigns were handed over Stuart Duisberg who has been at the helm ever since .
Stuart set about creating an event that was professional to a level that all riders could ride safely in the knowledge that they and land holders were covered for liability and insurances . Consulting with Daryl Petch of the newly formed Australian Motorcycle Association , a plan was put in place , land holders were consulted after numerous trips into the South Australian outback and convinced that a fully insured event on their stations would be a way of highlighting the region , an area very rarely ridden by motorcycle riders , an area that had potential to entice adventure riders and travellers .
The Flinders Classic XII was an all-new style of event attracting riders in categories of Adventure , Hard Adventure , Enduro , and Hard Enduro . The professionalism grew with riders paying a nominal fee that saw them covered for meals and accommodation with riding in some of the best country in Australia .
Move forward two years and Covid-19 restrictions hit the Flinders Classic hard . State border closures restricted interstate riders from attending and numbers
