TRAVERSE 11
Bringing together almost all disciplines of off-road riding , the four-day event , held amongst the stunning vistas of South Australia ’ s Flinders Ranges offers something for everyone and more importantly brings together riders from across the country to share the experience , to share the fun , to share the adventure .
Like many events of this nature the Flinders Classic started with a few friends deciding they would head into the Flinders Ranges , drink beer , and even ride their dirt bikes . That was in 2008 , the event was posted on a number of motorcycle forums , including ADVriders and Dirtbikeworld , and as they say , the rest is history … an annual event was born .
The first event attracted ten riders , all agreeing that it was one of the most epic ride weekends they had ever had , solidifying a regular meeting that many would go out of their way to attend .
The first ten years of the Flinders Classic were run by Trevor Jenkins , bringing people together from all corners of Australia , the popularity growing so quickly that many international riders added it to their calendars . Numbers grew to over 150 attendees , mixing enduro with adventure riding , around the Angorichina Village , riding on what were still public access tracks . The comradery was exceptional , the alcohol consumed plenty , and the riding a free for all without leadership or group
