Starting as an advertising campaign during the 1950 ' s , the Osborne Bull has become a symbol of Spain , of such cultural significance that the courts ruled that despite a ban on alcohol advertising the bulls could remain , spread across the country , alebit without the phrase Brandy de Jerez or company name . Often creating divide amongst Catalan seperatists and independentists in Mallorca eighty-nine Osborne Bulls are spread across Spain and some even further afield .
