shrugs Paul , in fact the Wraptie design studio is constructed from many re and upcycled products while chickens roost in the yard outside and bees pollinate the local plant life . “ Although it ’ s Mark who really pushes the environmental causes . We ’ d like to be 100 % sustainable one day , we ’ re on the way .”
Each Wraptie is constructed from recycled plastics , in fact to date over 50,000 plastic bottles have been made in the manufacture of Wraptie products , no new plastics are used in packaging including the small zip ties that hold the packaging together , they ’ re also a reusable design .
Paul and Mark have set themselves ambitious goals , targets that will eventually see them using over one million discarded plastic containers , bottles that would eventually end up as landfill or in our oceans . Yet , why rest on your laurels ?
Wraptie are signatories to the New Plastic Economy commitment of the Ellen McArthur Foundation , an organisation that promotes a circular economy , tackling such issues as biodiversity loss , climate change , waste , and pollution . The concept promotes reuse , sharing and recycling amongst many other aspects .
“ It ’ s very rewarding working for such a small business that is making such an effort to protect our planet for future generations ,” explained Sandra . “ We ’ re only small but we are able to do it .”
It ’ s clear Sandra is proud of what she is a part of , collaborating with Paul on new concepts and designs , a part of the bigger picture .
“ We ’ re always looking for new ways to create and reuse ,” she continues . “ It ’ s quite special .”
“ Everything must have more than one use ,” interjects Paul . “ Be practical and functional .”
Looking around it ’ s clear to see that there is activity here . Things being created , assessed , reviewed . Proudly both Sandra and Paul hold up a water bottle bearing a Wraptie logo , another product developed by the team . Another basic design simplified further and in doing so creating a better product .
It seems to be the Wraptie ethos ; take a simple product and make it better , and in doing so they are helping where they can to make the world a better place .
