we settled for a pretty decent room for the night .
The next day proved to be a major turning point in our trip as we set out from Bourke to head towards Hungerford .
The morning was met with some trepidation due to the overnight rains , but we made the call to push on regardless . As the tar gave way to dirt it wasn ’ t long before we realised that it could be an exceedingly long day ahead . With our hearts in our mouths , we slowly made our way forward . When I say slowly I mean really slowly .
The road became worse by the kilometre and after about three hours riding we managed to get around 80km down the road up to the point that Kramer decided that it was time for a rest and had a little lay down . The ‘ road ’ and I say road loosely had basically turned into a muddy custard consistency mixed with the slipperiness of a kids slip and slide . As we were faced with at least another 100km for the day and another two to three days of riding in these conditions we decided there and then that Cameron Corner would have to be conquered on another trip .
We had made the decision to head back to Bourke and take stock of the rest of our adventure . We made the call at this point to high tail it out to the Flinders Ranges and for the most part we stuck to the black top so that we could take advantage of some extra days to explore the South Australian mountain range .
It was still another day or two that we would endure the rain while heading down to Cobar and continuing on our way out to Broken Hill . Our last stop before we hit the Flinders Ranges was in a town called Peterborough where we finally had some dry weather and some nice easy cruising to take in the scenery .
While in Peterborough we visited the Motorcycle & Antique Museum . If you are heading through this way on your adventure I can ’ t recommend enough a stop to look around the museum . The owner was extremely welcoming and extremely knowledgeable on all the bikes and antiques within the museum . My brother and I spent a great part of the afternoon just wondering around in amazement .
From Peterborough we headed out through Hawker and found a , what could only be described as simply stunning , campground at Mount Little Station . For me this was the highlight of our camp spots along our journey . It was nestled in between the flowing and picturesque mountain ranges with spectacular views , amazing colours , and nothing but the calming sounds of nature . This was the essence of what I was looking for in the trip . Just a bike , great countryside and scenery , a relaxing camp site and being able to
