Twelve months makes a huge difference . Midway through last year things were looking quite bleak , headlines spoke of unheard-of horrors , yet now it seems there ’ s been a turnaround , positivity is returning , and while there ’ s still hardships , illness and too many deaths , there is an outlook that shows optimism .
The more balanced media are writing headlines that speak positively of a return to normality , mass vaccinations are bringing an end to lockdowns , people are being allowed to meet with each other , travel is being considered .
Witness countries that are undertaking a concerted effort to mass vaccinate their population ’ s . Governments are hinting that travel will be increased with an expected boom some time later this year . The United States are suggesting that recreational travel will be allowed very soon , especially considering that millions of vaccinations are being administered daily . It ’ s a similar situation throughout the northern
hemisphere with Europe allowing travel corridors through countries that seem to be getting atop the situation .
New Zealand and Australia have opened a travel bubble between the two nations however , both are well behind vaccination levels of similar nations . The saving grace that both countries are island nations and able to greater control the flow of international arrivals . Travel between the two nations is a promising step forward yet , the lack of vaccination within Australia has highlighted issues with internal borders that still sees continuing travel restrictions .
Overland motorcycle travel is all about borders , internal and international , so what does it mean for those that are keen to get back on the road and discover the world and see how it is rapidly changing .
The vaccination programs around the world are seeing proposals for international travel to increase or at the very least , start . With vaccination comes many levels of confusion , not least whether we will need to carry some form of certificate or passport to prove we ’ ve been
