After all what can you expect from a meal that ’ s been dried and sat in a bag for who knows how long ?

What is great about Campers Pantry are the package size and weights , less than 100 grams so easily convenient to take a few days ’ worth of food with you . Costs are comparable to the other similarly packaged products , it ’ s obvious that you pay for well-designed and colourful packaging . And although water consumption was quite high with Campers Pantry , around 320ml , we still rated these meals exceedingly high , and they ’ ve become some of favourites .

And that brings us to what we believe is the standout amongst all reviewed .

Expedition Foods have been around for over a quarter of a century , so they know what they ’ re doing , and have been supplying meals to some of the world ’ s most respected adventurers , in all fields .

With huge credentials we expected high prices and were pleasantly surprised to discover the meals averaged around $ 12.00 per serve . We could take that , especially given that all the serves came in with the

lowest weight , just 85 grams .

Average water consumption was the best of all with around just 150ml needed for each serve and the second quickest cook time .

Expedition Foods also provided the best tasting of the products with all their meals tested rating the highest . A fact backed up by the best-looking meals , and that ’ s important , after all some celebrity chef once said we do most of our eating with our eyes .

The downside of the Expedition Foods meals is that they rate quite lowly on overall nutritional value .

Thirty-five meals tried , some standouts , some close to inedible , but in a bind all worthy of consideration . If you ’ re hungry you ’ ll eat almost anything and while all these products should be considered , nothing beats fresh produce … consider that when passing through a town or community ; stock up for a day or two .
