just keen to get some miles under
our belts. The first half a dozen river
crossings as expected were no drama,
then riding up over the last crest
we hit the Walsh river. The depth
indicator read just over 0.8 metres
and we knew straight away this
river wasn’t even walkable, let alone
ridable.
The river was flowing fast, with 30
metres of wet river mud either side.
Even if we got through the river, it
would be a mission to get up the bank
on the other side. We had a plan B up
our sleeve, so feeling a little defeated
we quickly turned around and
headed down another track towards
Mt Surprise.
Everything was going well, the
trails fun and amazing scenery, then
we were met with the Lynd river.
The first half of the river we could
walk to test for depth and was quite
clear, but the second half got to well
over a metre and was very murky,
hiding perhaps a few crocodiles.
