The Powertech product powered a full-size bedside CPAP machine for two nights of seven hours each before it needed to be recharged, it went even better on a smaller travel machine and lasted three nights. The one downside is that it couldn’t provide enough power to keep the larger machines pump and humidifier going at the same time – it could only run the pump. The beauty of the Powertech Powerbank is that it also comes with two built in lights; a directional torch as well as a broad beam light that can be hung from a tent or tree, the battery life is enough to keep this light going for around 24 hours. The Powertech Powerbank also comes with a jump starter function. With a continuous 12V, 350A supply (peaks at 700A) it is enough power to jump start a 1600cc V-twin (fully discharged battery) as well as 3.2 litre diesel Ford Ranger. Recharging the Powertech Powerbank is simple. Both mains (240V) and DC (12V) are available. Mains power recharges the Powertech in around 5 hours while the DC (tried on a BMW F800GS) took around 7 hours – a full day of riding. Many similar products are on the market and at AU$249.00 the Powertech is not the cheapest, yet with its small, lightweight design and long-lasting power life the Powertech is certainly worth a look.
