TRAVERSE Issue 16 - February 2020 | Page 120

It seems inevitable that in the 21st Century all of us have things that need electricity while travelling; phones, cameras, drones. All inconsequential yet all taken with us. What do we do to charge or keep charged? Portable power. Yes, many modern bikes have a 12- volt socket, yet this is only good while the bike is running, and so this is when portable power comes into play. Battery technology has taken huge leaps in recent years; lighter and smaller yet providing greater power. We sought one that covered all basis and came across the Powertech 18,000 mAh Powerbank. Weighing in at just 640 grams the Powertech comes in it own carry case that includes everything you’ll need to keep you powered up, and with dimensions of 180mm (W) x 260mm (L) x 70mm (H) it’s small enough to keep in any pannier or bag. With USB outputs of 5 Volts, 2.4 Amps (Type A) and 5V, 3.0A (Type C) the Powertech Powerbank fully charged our mobile phones (iPhone 7 plus and iPhone X) in just three hours, from totally flat. The Powertech Powerbank holds enough charge that it can recharge an iPhone three times before needing to be recharged itself. The laptop charging function (can be used for anything – 12V, 16V, 19V at 3.5A) fully charged a Lenovo Tablet in just 2.5 hours and a Lenovo Netbook in four hours. Both devices were able to be recharged twice off one battery charge. The multiple output ports and a variety of plugs included with the Powertech Powerbank pack provides an ability to charge many devices, we were even able to run a number of electrical devices directly from the Powerbank, this included two different CPAP machines (for those riders that have sleeping issues).
