Bags. Bags, and more bags. We’ve seen plenty
of bags over the years and one we were
looking forward to more than any was
the Hurricane Backpack by Nelson
Rigg. And it didn’t disappoint.
Well, sort of.
Ours is the SE-3020, that’s tech
talk for the smaller 20 litre bag,
and initially it looked to be the
perfect smaller capacity backpack;
waterproof, durable, well-fitting
and comfortable to wear yet there
was one issue … and we’ll come to
that later.
This bag came well
recommended and who were
we to disagree? Nelson Rigg
have created a bag that looks the
goods with its electronically heat
welded seems, PVC tarpaulin
fabric and list of features and
with almost a year of on and
off road testing it proved to be
exactly what Nelson Rigg claim –
waterproof and dust proof, even
in some of the toughest natural
conditions we could submit it to.
Waterproof often means bulky.
Yeah, we’ve all had those bags that
stay waterproof via means of a roll top
however, they swell with air which is
almost impossible to purge, and this is
where the Nelson Rigg Hurricane comes
to the fore. It includes a purge valve that
allows for ease of venting the trapped air
and compressing the bag.
