much fun.
The A9 took us further towards our
most northern destination in Scot-
land … John O’Groats. The air felt
rougher here but still a chance to take
photos at the famous road sign.
At the caravan park, we put up our
tent and tried the famous fish and
chips from the "The Cabin" snack bar,
while watching the ferries departing
for the Orkneys.
The route to Durness took us al-
most exclusively on single track roads
along the coast. We were surprised
that we were as good as alone in
the wide landscape. Occasionally a
motorcyclist would cross our paths,
we’d greet each other and enjoyed
the tranquillity of the Highlands for
a while where you can meet more
sheep than humans.
The A838 winds its way from place
to place before passing the famous
Smoo Cave, something that is well
worth a visit.
