much fun. The A9 took us further towards our most northern destination in Scot- land … John O’Groats. The air felt rougher here but still a chance to take photos at the famous road sign. At the caravan park, we put up our tent and tried the famous fish and chips from the "The Cabin" snack bar, while watching the ferries departing for the Orkneys. The route to Durness took us al- most exclusively on single track roads along the coast. We were surprised that we were as good as alone in the wide landscape. Occasionally a motorcyclist would cross our paths, we’d greet each other and enjoyed the tranquillity of the Highlands for a while where you can meet more sheep than humans. The A838 winds its way from place to place before passing the famous Smoo Cave, something that is well worth a visit. Next to our campsite at Sango TRAVERSE 68
