Cleaning! One of the most hated
parts of bike maintenance, but let’s
face it, we all have to do it.
A while back we came across a
product that claimed all sorts which,
mostly seemed to be sales bunk. “It’ll
do this, it’ll do that,” you know the
sort of stuff.
Motomuck, a New Zealand based
company, say that their pH neutral
products will reduce the time it takes
to clean your bike and easily remove
dirt, oil, grease and the rest. So, we
gave it a go.
The first bike, a road going example,
that very rarely gets too dirty was the
tested. Motomuck claim you spray the
product on, wait 15 minutes and then
simply hose off. Sceptical? So were we
yet Motomuck did what it claimed, in
fact it did it really well. Five minutes
of spraying, 15 minutes of waiting, two
minutes of hosing. Job done.
The second bike, a GS that hadn’t been
ridden for quite some time and still had
20,000 kilometres of Australian outback
dirt and mud clinging to it, was going to
test this product. A hose, bucket, brush,
sponge and pressure washer were all on
standby. Let the games begin.
We followed the directions on the bottle
to the letter; hose the bike first which just
turned the dust to mud, wait a few minutes
in the sun to let the water dry, then apply the
Motomuck. Immediately, we could see the dirt lifting
