T here’s something special about a fa- ther and son embarking on a journey, one of exploration and self-discovery, one that challenges both to get to know more abut themselves and each oth- er. Aboard their Triumph’s it’s exactly what Dennis Le Prevost and Asatuurs Keim did as they explored 30 European countries in 90 days. Faster Than My Mind is the project between Den- nis and Asatuurs (stepfather and stepson) born over Christmas when the pair made a short film about Dennis and his Triumph Rocket X. “That was the moment I decided that this is what we had to do,” explained Asatuurs. “I just have to leave everything and finally have time for myself. I spoke to Dennis about it and that was the beginning I guess.” Asatuurs had recently turned 30 and was searching for life answers, wondering whether he could meet the expectations of others. Family, finances, where expectations being placed on him, he couldn’t find an answer and wondered what it all meant. The two discussed what Asatuurs had been pon- dering and almost immediately a plan was made to traverse as much of Europe as possible. A journey to discover what it all meant. But first they needed bikes. Dennis already had his Triumph, the largest pro- duction bike currently on the market, it’s unique and draws a crowd, Asatuurs wanted something similar, something that was unique and embodied his char- acter. A Triumph Bonneville Newchurch, the limit- ed-edition bike born out of the Tridays festival which sees the Austrian town of Neukirchen change its name each year, for a week, to celebrate all things British. “I just realised that actually, Bonneville looks like me. You know pets and owners? I kind of felt the same way. I thought, this is my bike, definitely,” laughed Asatuurs. The pair agreed that the Triumph brand and image perfectly met the need of their planned journey. “We quite enjoyed actually going to places where we could put the bikes somewhere they weren’t real- ly meant to be,” Dennis explained. “We put them in front of churches or museums and photographed them and put them on our Instagram page.” They soon realised that their followers were actu- ally following the bikes and their adventures, rather than the riders. An interesting twist, one that both Dennis and Asatuurs enjoyed. With very little planning, the pair set off and head- ed for France, unsure of what to expect and how it would all play out. “Every day we were filming exactly how we pre- pared for the trip. Even the first day of riding to France was a bit strange to me because I didn’t un- derstand exactly what I was doing, I kind of left it all to chance I guess,” admitted Asatuurs. TRAVERSE 49
