cluding the Republic and Srpska – not
to be confused with Serbia. So many
graveyards in many points that left a
chilling reminder of, what is to me, a
very recent war in the Balkans with
many very young people buried row
after row, marking their commitment
to country and God. I moved through
each of these countries, thorough-
ly enjoying each in their own and
unique way: Slovenia, Croatia, Bos-
nia and Herzegovina, Srpska, Serbia,
Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia, Al-
bania, and Greece.
Greece, the cradle of western civ-
ilization. What I remembered in
1986 was still true 30+ years later –
extreme heat in August! One cannot
always plan a trip totally based on
the seasons as the daily movement
and distances simply does not allow
it. Besides taking in the very unique
churches of Meteora and the Acrop-
olis (that had not changed a lot!), my
last stop on the continent of Europe
was to prepare for the African por-
tion of the trip and enjoy a bit of free
time in Athens.
So many options for the next stage
and I am excited to hit the great con-
tinent of Africa! I had thought about
many alternatives and consulted and
talked with many motorcycle riders
‘on the ground’ as well as local people
