“Fortunately, the G310GS is already equipped with USD
forks, which means replacing these parts is very straight-
forward - with everything removed and dropped in to the
top of each leg” enthused Mitchinson.
Indeed, it has always been the Rally Raid Products ethos
to ensure that any of their products and components are
completely bolt on/off, and can be fitted at home with just
basic workshop tools.
To complement the core wheel and suspension packages
for the G310GS, Rally Raid will also offer a substantial engine
guard to protect the otherwise vulnerable underside of the
engine which, like many modern motorcycle designs is
suspended from the frame.
“Our design uses a tubular steel ‘cradle’ design, that
properly encases the lower extremities of the engine, and
mounts directly the frame itself - similar to that which we
pioneered on the Honda CB500X” Mitchinson revealed.
From launch there will also be a series of dedicated
touring accessories: side luggage racks to support soft
luggage, an AMPS pattern GPS mount, various USB and
12v auxiliary powder sockets, and a taller windshield
that has been specially moulded to allow a wider range of
handlebar and hand-guards to be fitted without restricting
the steering on full lock.
THE PROOF IS IN ...
The Rally Raid Products ‘G310GS Adventure’ will make
its Australian debut in March 2018 at the eight-day APC
Rally, where two riders will take a pair of the Rally Raid
equipped machines over 3500+kms of outback and off-
road terrain - which ought to offer the perfect real-world
test and showcase the enhanced all-terrain abilities of this
new bike.
The two bikes will be ridden by Australian BMW brand
ambassador Amy Harburg, and product engineer Adam
Mitchinson from Rally Raid Products who will be flying in
from the UK. Their participation in the 2018 APC rally will
also be featured in YouTube documentary series filmed by
Dave Darcy of Motorcycle Adventure Dirtbike TV.
