Riding our way into Cooktown for lunch we carry onto the infamous Lion’s Den Hotel, where we eventual- ly bunk down in an African-inspired Safari tent. We start the next day with sore heads, not helped by a steep and rocky access track that features a nasty uphill log crossing that brings a couple unstuck. Following this tough start to the day is the CREB (Cairns Regional Electricity Board) Track, which takes us deep into rainforest-covered mountains and down into the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest, the oldest sur- viving rainforest in the world.
