and buses lined up forever, only a
couple moving slowly past the tem-
porary works at any time. We went
straight to the front of the queue and
were on our way. It’s moments like
these that biking is fun.
Riding these bikes was like ‘bucket
racing’, it took so long to accelerate,
to build up to a reasonable speed,
the rider becomes very reluctant to
back off. Slipstreaming each other
and ringing the bikes necks through
the gears, soon became the norm. I
hit 75kph on the little Hero and Steve
TRAVERSE 57
registered 80.
It seemed the blue buses were the
express service on the highway. They
have the loudest horns, especially
when gaining from behind, and are
prepared to pass anything at anytime.
