Through Their Eyes

Most of the time, people seem to look at the problem the immigrants are facing and think it's no big deal. They dont see how the everyday lives of the immigrants are being affected. Not having a piece of paper saying they are "documented" has affected not only their self-esteem and self-worth and the way they look at themselves, but as well as the opportunities they allow themselves to take and the limitations immigrants and their families are setting for themsleves. The fact that they dont have the same freedom to do much really does affect them.

For some immigrants in Arizona, their story has already had a wrong turn and for others their story is still on jeopardy. Everyday that passes, they are at risk. Though from the point of view of others, this isnt such a big issue not only because it doesnt concern them, but because it doesnt have a major effect on them like it does to the immigrants.

Upcoming, is a poem from the point of view of a child. He sees the world through his window. He expresses what his neighbors go through and this poem overall puts you in the boys shoes to see what immigrants all over Arizona face everyday.

For most immigrants in Arizona, their story has already had a wrong turn. It didnt end exactly the way they wanted it to. They came here to Arizona to live a "better" quality life but it ended up being worse because of what they have gone through. It wasnt exaclty what they were expecting or aiming for. Though many people dont understand that. They have the stereo type that immigrants have come to take away all their opportunities and steal jobs. However, at the end, its an equal race.

For some immigrants in Arizona, their story has even become an emotional storm. Having the limitations they already do have, they go through so much plus the effects of being an immigrant which we all have [immigrants]; but some have it worse. By "worse", I mean the bigger effects of being an immigrant like getting seperated from your family and sent back to your home country. Though that's another topic, but in order to understand the emotional and mental faces we must refer a bit to that topic. Overall, the main Idea here is, immigrants set limitations, traveling being if not one of the most, the most common one. They dont travel because they know what happens if they put themselves at risk for getting caught. That's where the emtional and mental phase step in. You are about to read "Back Home". A poem about a boy who saw this whole process through his bedroom window and then, the unawaited happens.
