The Dominican Republic is home of a very popular spot called Punta Cana. Here, newlyweds join together to sip cocktails, tan on the beach and make memories together. However, what is not always seen is the darker side of the Dominican Republic. There is a serious poverty issue on the poorer sides of the country. Organizations such as Habitat for Humanity as well as The Batey Foundation gather volunteers to travel

there to help improve those communities. Lin-Wood Public High School in Lincoln, New Hampshire brought together their INSPIRE group to help propose an idea to the students around them. The group would team up with the Batey Foundation and proposed a trip to the DR for volunteering in the poorer parts of the country. These students brought together this idea and proposed it to the school board. It was approved and the trip was a go as long as the minimum of six students was met.
