The students had to pay their airfare as well as their dues to the foundation. The fees took care of the food they would eat while being there, their transportation cost to and from the airport, as well as a donation to the foundation. Six students were rounded up and were then set off on their trip of a lifetime.

There ended up being a few bumps in the road when the students got to the Dominican. The gang got there right in the middle of a hurricane! The work site in which they came to help build was flooded out for the first few days of them being there. The work site had two entry ways. The short way, which was flooded and took about 20 minutes to get to the site, and the long way which would take about an hour or so to get there. The first day everyone stayed at the house and did chores as well as helped clean. Home base is what they called the group of two

students which were to stay behind from the work site and help buy as well as cook the food for that day. Home base would also be in charge of setting up the meals and doing the dishes.

After the day was coming to an end, the leaders came together and gathered all of the students into the kitchen. All of the tables and chairs were moved out of the way creating a "dance floor". The leaders taught the visitors how to dance traditional dances of the DR! This included the salsa, tango and others. Everyone was told to partner up and leave all shame at the door. By the end on the night, everyone was laughing and dancing together imagining that the heat and humidity was nonexistent. When all the dances were taught, the American's
