Q: Do you think the security guards are doing there best to keep everyone safe?
A: “ Um, in the presence, yeah i mean, whenever an incident does occur there is never an officer around, to do anything about it, so sort of. I mean the one time that i can say they did, was that one time with the kids “
Q:Do you think the security system is fine the way it is?
A: “No , everything definitely isn’t fine, because, you know kids already… well kids and adults, because adults ride the lightrail too, and it's not just reckless kids but adults as well sometimes, um they should like no better than to act up in public, and taunt other people / be rude and shout, but on the other hand, if its a problem, if it feels like a problem to students, which it does, because we frequently complain to each other about it being a problem. But, um, then you know i kinda think there should be more security officers around, like when we get out of school at three all the way to like five thirty”
So my interview with Ms. Abarca gave a lot of insight on not just what i see, but what other students see and feel as well.
