What are some of your favorite experiences you’ve had coaching?

“It’s really hard to remember individual ones, but I really think it is to see kids who have worked hard be able to achieve, especially when they are at a high level meet and they are able to achieve personal bests. So seeing kids who have come through like that, and particularly when you’ve struggled through nerves and being able to perform in those types of situations, and then to see them have the confidence to be able to excel and overcome that. The other thing that I really like is when students that we’ve coached come back to see us and you see how well they’ve done in life.”

Best advice you were ever given?

“It’s kind of what my philosophy is as a coach is and the advice I was given in high school; ‘It’s all about the journey’, it’s all about what you learned along the way and not so much on how you perform.”
